There's always room for improvement ... perhaps better identification of free shuttle that can be used to car rental as it can be a bit of a walk with heavy baggage for less-abled people & if you are in a hurry.

double check that your doors are locked when parked. Be not intimidated by driving at the speed limit in residential coastal towns. Do pull aside as to give the line of traffic following you way and then continue with your journey. Keep a vigilent eye for pedestrians though you may be focusing on your GPS's instructions. Park only in designated parking areas to avoid your car getting damaged. Respect the interior of the vehicle

Book through the web as you get a good deal and all organised. Visit Blaubery strand in cape town its the best sunsets in the world. Make sure you get the number of the local office at the airport. I needed it to extend the rental. prices are good and better when done through a site like Kayak. Smile.

The pick up location is quite convenient - Travel light with minimum luggage. Always try to book cars higher than Group C - as A and B cars cannot drive up the hill level roads Feel up the tank before handing the car back - Cape Town is beautiful, specially in the evenings - the sunsets and sunrise - though stay safe and avoid secluded area The Emergency numbers on the vouchers are there to truly assist you - Use them if you are in any difficulty.

Get out to Camps Bay, climb Lions Head Mountain, or Table Mountain. Absolutely fantastic views of Cape Town on one side and the coastline on the other. See around the V&A harbour/shopping area. If you can afford a special treat, go for the Belmond Mount Nelson hotel afternoon tea - its extravagant nibbles and deserts are out of this world. Have breakfast in any of the inner city trendy coffee shops to experience life there. If you enjoy out doors, cliffs and seas, take a tour to the Cape of Good Hope.

Arrive in pleanty of time. Follow all the signs and you won´t get lost. If you want to claim back V.A.T go to the office before checking in. Ask for help if going/coming from car hire as quite a long walk and some is up a slope. Plenty of places to find a drink or something to eat. Very easy to be dropped off or to return a rental car.

Cape Town is one of the most beautiful holiday destinations in the world. There is a lot more to see than just the tourist traps which every popular holiday destination has. Do not believe everything you hear on the news as regards the violence, etc., associated with the rest of South Africa, or for that matter, any other large city mostly worldwide - if you are street wise, there is nothing to fear - just relax and enjoy everything Cape Town has to offer, you most definitely will not be disappointed. Put the politics aside and use water very, very sparingly!

Cape Town was a fantastic dedestination, Table Mountain was a great cable car ride. The scenery from up top was awe inspiring. Travelling to Cape Point was equally as good. The scenery again, mind blowing. A day trip to the Aquila Nature reserve was another highlight, loads of animals in a natural habitat. The food Cape Town has to offer is first class and very reasonably priced. Kirshtenbosch gardens were beautiful, well maintained and laid out very well. We will be back!

Cape Town is an incredible city and I would recommend that everyone visits. Air BnB is a great way to find well priced and great accommodation. The weather is lovely in February and March and it is not as busy as it is out of peak season. The beaches are fantastic, there are hundreds of restaurants and coffee shops to go to and there is so much to keep yourself busy.

Take at least two days to drive around the peninsula, first along the Twelve Apostles to HoutBay and via Chapman's Peak to Noordhoek, and back through Constantia Neck. Second one via Kalk Bay and Simonstown to Cape Point. The third day would be Table Mountain and Kirstenbosch, and the fourth city and Waterfront.

Aside from the usual tick boxes of table mountain etc. I would highly recommend doing a tour of the vineyards. We spent a sunny Christmas Eve doing wine tasting and even a stop at a brandy distillery. For something a bit different also try Afternoon Tea at the Nelsons Mount Hotel - a fabulous high tea set in a posh hotel with the choice to sit inside and enjoy the sound of piano playing or outside on the terrace with a lovely view.

Eating out in particular is fantastic with a plethora of restaurants to explore with amazing fresh seasonal produce including great seafood and meat. A must is climbing Lions Head on a clear day for amazing views. Travel to the wine country for great and inexpensive wines and a touch of the Dutch colonial past.
