Richmond airport is small and easy by any measure. Parking is close and inexpensive. The economy lot busses are always there. The trip from economy is only a few minutes. Place is clean. Only two terminals right next to each other. Just a little out of town maybe from Richmond and Williamsburg.

Plan ahead, when able. It cuts costs. Travel routes that provide 24 hr service stations and rest areas. Stop every 4 hours minimum to stretch. This also allows fresh air to enter your lungs. Snack on items that are not heavy, no "meal" food while driving,. Thes can make your body content and cause you to become drowsy.

Don't use the actual compartment for your personal sunglasses that is located above the rear view mirror. You may forget them in your haste to return the rental, (like me). We actually folded the back seats down and used the rear for temporary storage transport.

The service was quick and friendly. They explained everything in full. The car was awesome! My friend and I were happy to have a decently priced rental from the moment we got to Richmond. I do not think out trip would have been as fun or easy without it. The company also handled the one concern we had later in Pennsylvania. I would definitely use them again.

Have your drivers license and credit card ready in line. No need to prepay for gas. Large Wawa gas station just outside airport. Richmond is small airport but can get very busy and backed up in the morning. Don't stay near the airport. Iffy section of town.

Really clean, smallish airport. This was our first time there, and we were pleasantly surprised! Would recommend going to Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's house. Colonial Williamsburg was amazing, and we could have spent many days there. The Shirley Plantation was worth a visit. We were very happy to have gone to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. Overall easy driving, friendly people, and very safe area.

While you wait for baggage, you can go grab a baggage cart for $4. They are located near the exits and valets. While you wait for your baggage, you can also check out your rental car. This will save some time and help you feel productive after your flight. If you become lost in the first floor baggage and rental car area, the staff at the information desk are super friendly and direct you where to go. Being new to the area, I also asked for suggestions of places to see and try. It’s always better to ask locals their fave restaurants and sites to see. It means they are proud of their area and want to share the best parts of it with you.

We didn't visit the town of Richmond. We were on our way for a weeks vacation in Williamsburg, VA. Which is a fabulous place, and well worth a visit.

If you are a golfer there are lots of courses, but check prices and which are Private and which are Public courses... Don't assume they are Public. Get the FastPass with the car rental, for the tolls or you may be putting out cash everyday while in the area.

Come to Richmond for Civil War history, access to Williamsburg, and a couple days at VA Beach. Inexpensive area and well located to a lot of activities.
