Loved everything about PDX - live music is great. One issue with TSA, but that isn't the fault of the airport!

The Portland Airport has some great places to eat and quality grab-and-go food as well. If you have a long layover consider spending part of it in one of the restaurants. Also there is a place to get a massage and it looked really beautiful and relaxing for an airport environment. My all time favorite thing at PDX is the Mini Hollywood Theater in the C Gate! It shows short films or 10 minutes or less that are made by local area artists. Everything from documentaries to silly animated shorts can be enjoyed for a cycle of 1 hour!

Love coming to Portland, we would live here if we could. This is our third trip. This time we visited the Bridal Veil and Mulntalh falls, did some shopping down at Woodburn. Last time we ventured out to Crater Lake did the Rose Gardens and made a trip too the coast. Great times and lots of memories.

The Portland vibe hums with life and brims with local breweries and fine food gems. If you want the ultimate doughnut tour: The vibrant, pink walls of Voodoo Doughnuts preludes the creative and playful doughnuts they serve and Blue Star Doughnuts was out of this world with their quirky, perfectly baked sugar delights. If you want to slow things down, appreciate the details and savor the moment over a perfect cup of strong coffee, check out Sweedeedee's for breakfast. Nestled within quiet residential streets, this place is like a deep calming breath, every detail is perfect from their scrumptious molasses toast to the hand made pottery coffee cups.

*Be prepared and get plenty of sleep before your trip. It helps to get through the little rough spots! *Get to the airport early to avoid undue stress and worry about missing your flight. *Pack your baggage - literally and figuratively. Being able to walk on the plane with only a small purse or bag is so freeing. Let go of the little stresses at home that you can't change while you are away - and enjoy your trip. *Expect some unexpected delays so you don't become rattled when they happen. *Use HolidayCars.com to rent your car - making the car rental experience easy and worry free!

PDX has been voted the best airport in the US for several years. My experience there confirmed the rating. In fact, I have never exiting a US airport so quickly. Collecting my car could not have been easier. Landing to checking into my downtown hotel only took 75 minutes. I highly recommend both Portland airport and Hertz rental at this airport.

We rented Budget through Holidaycars.com and we had a fabulous experience. We originally rented a round trip car from Portland back to Portland. Later I changed our return to Seattle and it was surprisingly only $3 to return to a different airport! When we got to Budget in Portland they got us in right away, gave us a free upgrade and free ice cream. The car was in great condition. A week later we returned the car to Seattle and again the staff was friendly and helpful to direct us to the ferry terminal in Seattle. I wasn’t sure about renting through a 3rd party for the rental car but it was absolutely amazing!!

There's no place like Portland--in the summer. First of allele the PDX airport is a treat in itself--great food and gift shops. Although, because of population growth the Portland traffic can be challenging, that can be overcome with a good GPS. There's much to do and see in the city and the suburban communities--especially charming Lake Oswego where there is a concert or other event (sometimes on the lake) most nights. A visit to the Rose Garden and/or Swan Island Dahlias (via Canby Ferry over the Willamette River) is mandatory. A visit to a site that reviews restaurants assures you'll get a good, reasonably priced meal anywhere in the city. Be sure to allow at least one/two days to visit the Oregon Coast. Water freezing but the beaches clean and NOT crowded. Liked my visit there so much I'm returning later this month (before the rains come).

Be at the gate well before departure. Stay up to date on your gate assignment as they change frequently. PDX is as smooth as it’s gets if you allow plenty of time. Lots of great restaurants and shops to visit. The staff and TSA were very friendly and expedient. Overall, a great experience and one of the finer airports in the country.

The Colombia Gorge is a must do once you arrive to Portland. Words can't describe the beautiful waterfalls and scenery.then heading to Pacific Northwest Coast line is a must do, passing through Tillamook and visiting the creamery. Enjoying the trees driving through the national park. Stopping at Liberty City Beach to get your feet wet and enjoy the view where spotting a whale is truly amazing.

Honestly, the airport was fairly easy to maneuver. Getting to the car rental shuttles though was a little confusing and not well marked so we ended up at the on site counters at first before one of the guys working told us where to go. Otherwise, nice place.

I'll tell you, Portland Airport is clean and orderly. Everything is well marked from wahrooms (nicest, softest t.p. of any airport in the nation) to gate locations. TSA lines are quick even at peak travel hours. The restaurants are easy to locate and are reasonably priced compared to other large airports. Stanfords is my favourite restaurant at PDX. Best burger and soup combo. I'd go to PDX just for the experience.

Portland airport was surprisingly well equipped with restaurants, bars and stores. The one thing that I found a little confusing was the offsite car rental instructions. Following the signs to get to the area by the parking garage were good, but the signage outside the offsite car rental desk area was deceptive. If you already had registered for your car in advance, the sign seemed to direct you directly outside, whereas in fact, you needed to walk through the desk area to the far side and walk out those doors to be in the correct spot to pickup your bus to the offsite car rental location.

I didn't spend time in Portland but I was in Oregon for 2 weeks in the Columbia Gorge, Bend, and the coast. The scenery is glorious, but you know that already. The weather in August is delightful but not so much on the coast. Seems every August brings lots of fog right along the shore, so it's hard to watch the whales. Go on a whale watching boat at Depoe Bay at the Whale Museum anyway and you'll see plenty. I also recommend going to the Bonneville Dam to see wild trout and salmon swim by in a glass tank on their way to the ocean. The Museum at Warm Springs is excellent with lots of fine art (between Portland and Bend.) And you can't miss Multnomah Falls or Timberline Lodge.

So much to do along Riverfront -- east and west. The Tillikum Bridge is beautiful -- can run or walk across it, or take the streetcar! Streetcar provides great overview of the city, circling both river fronts and east/west side neighborhoods --- good introduction to Portland. And of course, the food and beer is THE BEST -- everywhere in the City. Check out the tram -- from west side of Tillikum Bridge, up to OHSU -- amazing views. And, go to the Columbia River (I take 33rd from the NE/Broadway -- all the way to the River. Several restaurants on the Columbia, right where 33rd comes out -- the Deck (on the dock/floating on the water!) to the left, and Salty's and restaurant next to it (GREAT outdoor seating!)
