It’s not immediately clear how to get from the airport to the car rentals, but once you figure it out, it’s easy to get there.

There have been many upgrades at JFK. The food options are great. We felt swanky! We also stayed at the TWA new hotel. Drop by for a drink there (it's terminal 5 right next to Jet Blue). It is retro 1962 and built by world famous architect Eero Saarinen. Space age and really fun.

JFK has some peculiar wheelchair provisions for those people who need assistance. Arriving at JFK from LAX was generally a good experience for my elderly, infirm aunt. However, returning to the airport to get assistance was very hard on her. It seemed we walked and walked and at least one of the moving walkways was out of order so she had to walk that. Once we found the Jet Blue baggage loading place where I thought I could get her assistance I was wrong. The agent was kind enough to see her difficulty (hard to miss) and called for a wheelchair to help her but did not miss telling me that we were not yet at the area to get wheelchair assistance. Older people still want to participate in life and not be pushed aside. I feel that the airport along with the carriers could do a better job to help with this, especially using public transport to our gate in the spirit of being environmentally responsible. Still, I don't believe using public transport had anything to do with the lack of sufficient wheelchair assistance getting into the airport terminal.

When you arrive at JFK make sure to put aside some time to visit the TWA terminal/museum at Terminal 5. It is well worth the time spent and you should plan to arrive early enough before your outbound flight or make the time when you come in to go see it. It will take about one hour or a little less to see the whole thing and you will be glad that you spent the time. A real treasure at the airport.

NICE AIRPORT. Quick in and out... If you are renting a car, argue the toll transponder fees. They are increasing toll roads and taking down manned toll booths so no ability to pay cash. Yet transponder rental fees are $25 a day. A TOTAL RACKET!!!

When it comes to getting to and from JFK Airport by car, do yourself a huge favor and BELIEVE THE HYPE. Any driving close to rush hour (7 - 10 AM and 3 - 7 PM Monday through Friday) will set you way back in terms of getting in or out of JFK on-time. Whenever possible, use public transportation, e.g., "The Train to the Plane," which provides a shuttle from the Long Island Rail Road's Jamaica train station to JFK. Once you land at JFK, you're technically in New York City, but many people don't realize that there are five separate boroughs (sections) of NYC, and only one of them is Manhattan! Don't spend time in other boroughs unless your great Aunt Sally lives there & offers you a free room. Get yourself to Manhattan ASAP - it's the centerpiece of the greatest city on Earth! Weather permitting, make a day out of exploring Central Park. There's lots to do and a dozen or more ways to relax there. Lie outside & relax on the Great Lawn or in the Sheep Meadow. See free Shakespeare at the Delacorte Theatre (in summer). Visit Strawberry Fields, a small section of the park dedicated to John Lennon by his beloved Yoko, who still lives in the apartment they shared in the Dakota building on Central Park West. Lennon was assassinated there. Rent boats. Watch the people. Take their picture! (Be nice & ask permission first.) No trip to NYC is complete without exploring Central Park - a beautiful slice of heaven in the middle of the city. Enjoy. :)

Always take the ezpass when going out of town. Paying yourself waste time and money. Why pay more on your own when you can pay less with Advantage!?!? Always check the vehicles mpg rate to save. The vehicle You want might be the one to burn a hole in your pocket in gas. Never feel disappointed, customer service are always there to provide additional assistance. Once you have the key, drive out the lot with a smile and ignore the rear view (unless reversing) because your journey is about to begin. Wether you’re going camping or going to a funeral, trust but also double check, that the vehicle you have is clean and well inspected before your departure.

Best travel trips: Anything, at anytime can go wrong. Always have a back up plan. Make sure you have enough money on your debit card / credit card...since most rental car establishments don't accept cash. I had brought cash, but good thing I was able to quickly transfer money in my bank out to my credit card. Always be nice to the people who are attending you, it makes things run a lot smoother and sometimes it works in your benefit:)

Air Tran is a great option to get around. I live in Queens and never realized how easy it is to take the AirTran. You can take it from Howard beach to The rental car terminals. You can also take it from Jamaica station at Sutphin blvd. As soon as you come off the train and down the elevator the rental car desks are a few feet away! Very nice experience.

I from NYC so I think it is one of the best international airports in the world. You have to check out the Cloisters in the Upper West side - purchased from the Rockfellers, they brought in all kinds of medieval works of art, run-down churches and Christian and Catholic icons from Western Europe. They even have a medieval garden with herbs, vegetables and spices that were used in the monastries for food and medicine. Plus, the Rockefellers bought out the land across the Hudson River, where you have a unbridled view of the Palisades and the River. The Cloisters, now owned by the Met, is found in Fort Tryion Park, and is a great place to have a summer picnic, and is usually pretty quiet. If you have never been to this gem, you have to check it out.

Our flights arrived late and departed late, which was a bummer. The ticketing agents (same people as the gate personnel) were super friendly, upbeat, and relaxed. The security personnel were also really reasonable and pleasant to deal with, which was a bit of a surprise. The Hudson News shop, common in many major airports, had a really nice selection of local gifts, beyond just the typical sweatshirts and shot glasses. There was plenty of room at the gate for our kid to run around, but not quite enough seats. There was free wifi and ample charging stations. The bathrooms were clean and the wait was not too long.

I haven’t used Kennedy Airport in years, and with all of the expansion, I recommend the following: -If you are returning a rental car, be sure to add an additional 20-30 minutes to your commute time. The car rental area is a train ride to the terminals. -The Airtrain dropoff point is a pretty far walk to the security checkpoint. I advise adding additional time for that. -Don’t worry about forgetting to pack a snack. There are several food options at every turn, and the pricing was not astronomical.

I really liked the air train. It was very easy to use. The directions are clear, and get you right where you want to go. As soon as you get off you are right in the area of the rental cars. Upon returning, it was kind of confusing finding where to go for Thrifty . I ended up circling a few times. Perhaps there is a map they can give you that shows you where to go when you return the car. Thank you.

We rented the car at JFK and drove upstate that day, where we stayed until we drove back to the airport 12 days later. As we learned, you have to have an Easypass in your car to cross any bridge( there are no more Any other ways ) to pay for toll. When we wanted to get an Easypass from Advantage rental office, we were told that the price for it is $23:99 PER DAY!!! So we would had to pay almost $300 for a bridge tall that in reality is 8 or 10 dollars. It should be much more renter friendly if there was an Easypass in the car that is like a credit card and can be paid at the return of the car.

The only tips I can give are to make reservations in advance. I paid for my car almost 100 percent; so be prepared to pay a balance when you get to the car rental. Do a little research on what type of car you need because they are very accommodating for your needs. If you need to return the car at another location, call a representative they are very helpful. have fun and enjoy the car. The rates are very good compared to other car rentals, take advantage of Holiday Car Rentals.

Have you confirmation code ready when you call or arrive. Make sure you have your GPS location set before you put the car in drive because many cars will not let you input on the GPS while driving. Get gas at a non-airport station if possible as prices are lower. Take any dent or ding or scratch photos before you leave and save them on your phone, the date and time you took the photo will automatically be saved on the file if there is a dispute later.

This rental car facility is easy to access from the airport and the returns and pickups are easy. Be sure to be very explicit about what fees you are going to be charged before you sign off on your agreement. Also, though the rental site you use may indicate that there is no age charge for people over 23, the fee is for anyone under 25 so plan to have an older person drive if possible. Bring your confirmation number with you for faster service. Keep your rental car agreements until all charges are finalized on your card. Be sure to check if your car insurance covers rental cars, as that could save you fees.

Passengers should be prepared for check in 3-4 hours, not 2 hours, before departure. Passengers who have late evening and early morning flights should have enough dinner since only McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts which opens 24 hours. Passengers should listen carefully to gate announcers since their voices compete against each other. Passengers should try to avoid using taxis since they are expensive (at least for me). AirTrain users should hold on to hand rails at all time since there is no train driver on site. The AirTrain often makes sudden brake and accelerate. In addition, they have to pay attention to every stop since the announcement is often hardly heard
