FLL airport is used to tourist from all over the world. They were very helpful and I easily was able to manage my in bound transit needs as well as my out bound travel. Once I picked up my baggage there were signs that directed me to car rental location that was adjoining the main terminal. I thought the airport needed better signs leaving the baggage claim area to help find the car rental building. The bus pickup was out the doors to the left, just follow the sidewalk and you will see a little sign saying "to car rental center". We had to hop on a bus and it took maybe 3 minutes to get there. Buses left every 5 minutes when we were there- even though our paper said every 15 mins. Workers were very friendly and was able to point us in the right direction. Overall easy to navigate through the airport with little help.

The beach!!! Dining on the avenue with lovely music. We drove to Key West and spent a few days. They have a beautiful butterfly conservatory. Gorgeous sunsets at Mallory Square. We visited the “Little White House “. Had a fun time visiting the sites on the hop on -hop off trolley. The drive to the keys is a worthwhile trip.

FLL is a beautiful airport. It has always been very busy every time that I’ve been there so be prepared for a crowd. Finding the shuttles to offsite car rentals was not easy. We were walking around outside on the ground level where hotel shuttles and car pick-ups take place. There are very few signs instructing where to go, so we had to ask an airport employee. The offsite car rental shuttle is not on the ground level location. From baggage claim, you need to take an escalator to the 2nd floor, walk across a pedestrian bridge and locate the door that leads to offsite car rental shuttles. I feel FLL could do a better job with identifying how to find this location.

Fort Lauderdale Airport has come a long way. They have new eateries, shops, and an inviting interior. If you are unfamiliar with an airport, pull up the terminal map online ahead of time so you can plan your time in the airport. Always pack small toiletries in your carry-on just in case, or to freshen up after a flight. Buy bottled water (to stay hydrated) and snacks prior to getting on the plane, and try and get up to walk around in the terminal as well as on the plane to keep your muscles moving. A travel size pack of hand wipes/sanitizer is a huge help to wipe down seats, armrests, and tray tables. Better safe than sorry.

It’s also important to research the area and surroundings you’re traveling to and try to make restaurant reservations in advance. You will wait a good 10-15 minutes for each shuttle so if you also then have to take a second shuttle to an off-site rental company you can add another 15 minutes before you get to the rental counter

I did and at the end, for more than once, I realized that Easirent was the best way and company to rent a car from. Indeed I was still skeptical but, once I arrived at the branch and started the process, I had ZERO doubt that I had made the right choice. Next time renting a car, I would not take a car that has the indicator lights on at checkout. I would have asked for a replacement car at that time, but the line was incredibly long and they said at the counter that they were going to run out of cars. I would have insisted that they pick this car up from me. A new car should have been dropped off at my location. I would have been satisfied with the rep making a replacement car available at a Budget location in Naples. I would have insisted on the check in person correcting the glitch in the system instead of relying on me to call it in with her notes on my checkout sheet. This process has proven to be too long and still not effective.

Travel tips: I always bring alcohol wipes to use on the airplane seat and rental car steering wheel. Travelling at night is always best to beat congestion. If you have time to spare, travelling at night might also result in a delay - long enough will get you travel cash or points for next go round!!!! If you are a coffee freak, bring your own sugar - small "travel bottle" filled with "natural" sugar is always a plus, if the food stand has none. Since hot steak dinners and the like are no longer served in coach (yes, I am dating myself!!!) always bring some sort of meal snack - saves money and you know YOU prepared it!! Not a bad airport to fly in or out of. It is less than an hour drive from the Miami airport and much easier to navigate. Add plenty of time to get into your rental car as not all rental agencies are located at the airport. It is also important to note that the check in areas for each individual airline are quite spaced out. If you are getting dropped off, make sure that it is close to where you check in or have your bag checked otherwise it will be a long walk. This airport is exceptionally busy in the morning and extremely busy near spring break time. I have experienced 2+ hour waits for security during these times.

Go to Dania Beach, and the pier. Visit Pompadellos on Commercial - excellent for pastrami sandwich. The Glades Church in Sunrise area is well worth attending Sundays. Drive into the Everglades to get a different sense of natural life and vegetation. Hear a concert show at Au-Rene Theatre at The Broward Center for the Performing Arts Go to Popano Beach, lots of restaurants.

Our experience at the airport was wonderful. We traveled on a small airline and did not hear the baggage claim number. That caused us a little confusion and frustration. Thankfully, we recognized others that were on our plane and found our luggage easily from there. The ease and access to finding rental cars was great. It would be nice if there was rental car locations on site as there are where I live, but it was nice that they offered transportation to their locations and the driver was very friendly and helpful. Overall, a great experience.

The sign was not present until you walked outside, passed the end of the building, and saw the bus. This is unlike most airports where the shuttle bus is outside the luggage claim/building. I only travel with one carry-on and a backpack. This if much more efficient at the airport and helps you focus on bringing what is important. Most items are not important or needed. Aim to arrive at the airport 1.5 hours before take off to avoid missing your flight on occasion. A little extra time at the airport arriving early is far better than ever being late due to unforeseen circumstances. Lastly, I like to bring a light snack for myself on the airplane as everything takes a bit a time during travels.

Car Rental Tip #2: If you plan on using an off-site car rental company because of money savings, make a point to schedule your arrival during the day. Selecting a car in the dark makes it difficult to spot things you may not like. Also, you are completely subject to the weather. Airport Tip #1: You can pack food in your carry-on luggage if you dont want to spend a fortune buying it at the airport. Just don't pack pudding/jello or other liquids or semi-liquids. Solid food and bars pass security without problem. Bring an empty water bottle and fill it up after passing through security.

Always travel with an empty water bottle. This will allow you to fill up your water after you get through security, thus eliminating the need to spend five or six dollars on a bottle of water to drink while you are waiting at the gate. Gate check your carry-on bag every chance you get. It is very helpful in navigating the aisle of an airplane if you are unencumbered. The five minute wait for your bag at the end of the flight is totally worth it. Always carry small bills like 5 or One 2 tip baggage handlers, especially the ones who accept checked bags at the curb.

This airport is spread out into separate terminals and you cannot easily walk between the terminals, you have to instead wait for a shuttle. If you are returning a rental car, you will take two shuttles - 1 from the rental car lot to the parking area and then from the airport to the correct terminal. Allow yourself two hours if you are renting a vehicle from offsite.

Extremely easy to access Dollar desk, all paperwork had been processed, took only minutes to walk to car. Easy access to major roads and Ft Lauderdale/Everglades port terminal for cruise ships ( 4-5 minutes max). Easy return and 5 minute walk to departure terminals. Loved the fact I was told to pick any car in 'aisle 6'. Dollar maps are adequate but would suggest having good FL map available or phone/pad with internet connection for positive directions. Gas station easy to locate off 595 when returning and within 5 minutes of Dollar/airport, use GPS if available.

Being 2 hours early for flights reduces stress levels as well. I absolutely love south Florida and recommend an airboat ride on the Everglades. My older kids absolutely loved the Miami Zoo as well! The FL Keys are an absolutely beautiful destination for a day trip. Snorkeling off shore at John Pennekamp State Park was beautiful!

Start the day with a walk along the BROADWALK next to the ocean in the Hallendale Beach area. Visit GULFSTREAM RACETRACK for some horse racing excitement; if horse racing isn't your thing, there's okay shopping and great dining there. The best shopping is either at Bal Harbor or Aventura Mall. Take a drive down A1A to South Beach for people watching, restaurants and clubs day or evening and also visit Lincoln Mall area.

Pei Wei for fast fantastic Asian food, cafeteria style. And if you make your way north Whalers Wharf on Hillsborough near the Pier. in Deerfield Beach and then 20 minutes north of that is Bone Fish in Boynton Beach. It is a cool seafood place with amazing food. On each trip to Florida I go back to these restaurants as they never disappoint and of course I try many others as well.

If you do need to use the toll system stop at a CVS pharmacy (there everywhere) or get on the turn pike and stop at the service center and buy your own sunshine pass you will save money if the rental is for more than 3 days. Watch out for old drivers a lot are over 100 years old and remember everything is farther away than you thought

We were by the beach at Fort Lauderdale and it was absolutely lovely. We recommend going to the Riverwalk and taking the water trolley which is absolutely free and gives you a different perspective of the downtown. While in that area we visited the NSU Museum which was having a show on fashion. Culturally there is also the bonnet House Museum and gardens. We took a guided tour and it was very interesting to see what that area of Florida look like before it became developed. If you haven't seen a movie that you've been interested in I highly recommend the Coral Ridge AMC movie theater. You need to make reservations online and you can pick your specific seat. It is a dining experience if you would like. The seats are extremely comfortable and have an electric power reclining feature. Overall Fort Lauderdale is a great place to relax.
