In Charleston SC, only rent your car at the airport or in town. Offsite airport rentals are a nightmare. There sometimes is an hour to check in and another hour to check out. They also gave me the wrong bill offsite. These are the rental companies on Montegue Ave.

Smile and maintain a calm positive outlook, because everybody is trying to do their job as well as they can and often circumstances beyond their control occur. Travel light - then lighter again. you will surprise yourself how little you really need. No alcohol when flying, time-zones and dehydration are silent but efficient energy thiefs.

Charleston Airport security always seems to go smoothly. Be sure to have your liquids in a separate baggy and take food out of your carry on bag. This airport focused on that more than some. In Charleston go to the restaurant 82 Queen. The crab cakes are delicious and the service is sublime. Be sure to take a walk down by the water and see the Pineapple fountain. Take a ride in a horse drawn carriage. The markets are always a hit.

Going to Charleston? The airport is small, but still plan to arrive early as security bogs down during peak travel times. Car rentals at the airport are easy and inexpensive - definitely the way to go. Plan at least a day in the historic downtown area, with a cruise to Fort Sumter, and dinner at one of King Street's finest. Don't forget the great ice cream shops downtown! Try the she-crab soup, fried chicken and waffles, and local shrimp and grits. Make sure to spend a day at one of the Charleston area's plantations, and consider skipping the Charleston Aquarium, which is pricey and small. A kayak tour down around Seabrook Island is a great way to explore the lowland coastline with all its inlets and wetlands. Look for dolphins! And pay a visit to Angel Oak if you get the chance, but remember whenever you're anywhere near the water - watch for gators! You don't want them to eat you, but if you get the chance, try eating them, blackened or fried. Tasty!

Hilton Head is the best! 2 hour drive from Charleston, but well worth the trip. Additionally the small town of Bluffton is an artists' and shoppers dream. Very quaint, lovely restaurants, tons of small and larger galleries. Great seafood in both places, we really enjoyed our visit. Charleston is a nice airport as well.

It was so easy to book I couldn’t believe it. I found the price, paid the down payment and difference on arrival. The car I ordered was exactly the one I reserved. It was easy as 1, 2,3. The great thing about this airport is, you’re right out on highway in seconds. I would definitely use them again. No complaints.

Check the car over be for you leave the lot. Point out any dings or scrapes to the attendant. Take a photo to be sure. Don’t rent a car if a hurricane is on the way
