Great airport. Easy to navigate. Super-short security lines and professional staff. Not many eating options, but the ones that are there are fine. Parking and getting to/from the airport couldn't be quicker or easier. Plenty of direct flights to places I never figured you could fly to from Albany.

I appreciate that it's a smaller airport. Staff are all quite friendly, including TSA. When it's not busy, the airport is quite peaceful, and I appreciate that they have works of art and a few restaurant places to sit and eat (versus just fast food). However, when it is busy, I think because they are a smaller airport, there are areas that get congested, including the security area, the waiting area for your flight (gates), and also the Chik-fil-a is located just past security. All of these locations can get quite congested, although they seem to increase staff to accommodate - my recommendation would be to avoid lines, get to the airport around 2 hours prior to your flight - then going through security and getting something to eat is quite ease-ful.

Albany Airport is very easy to get around. The airport doesn't have many options for restaurants. But Chick-fil-a will open very soon. Near baggage claim, they have a board with phones to directly connect you with your car rental company. There's a designated waiting area for shuttle service, which is normally pretty quick. Thrifty and Dollar rental car service is very good. Staff is friendly and gets you on your way quickly.

Best travel tips is to make sure your carry on baggage is no bigger than the recommended size, make all your reservations for hotel and car rental ahead of time, and make sure to have a credit card. Debit Visa and Mastercards are not allowed when renting a car, and if you have a dispute with the company, you can dispute the charge on your credit card as well.
