Car rental Tenerife North Airport

Holiday Cars offers car rental from thirteen different suppliers at Tenerife North airport from which the rates are compared real-time. With this real-time comparison Holiday Cars is ensured to offer you the best price a vehicle that suits your needs. Furthermore, a No Risk Warranty + insurance is offered which covers all damage inflicted on the rental car and cars of others, this way you can enjoy your vacation without having to be worried about any subsequent costs.
Getting around in a taxi is far more expensive than driving a rental car and Public Transport doesn’t provide the freedom a car does. Due to this, and the fact that petrol is considered quite cheap at Tenerife, hiring a car is the best option when travelling to the Spanish island.
At Tenerife North you can find anything from a small, two person car to a family SUV or a convertible sports wagon. Because Holiday Cars offers car rental from so many different suppliers you are bound to find the perfect car for your vacation!

Tenerife North Airport

The airport handles around 4,5 million passengers on a yearly base and it is expanding rapidly with an approximate rise in passengers of about ten percent on a yearly base. Tenerife North Airport is only a 40 minute drive away from the far larger Tenerife South Airport and the reason why such a small island has not one but two airports is, of course, tourism.
Holiday Cars’ customers are really positive about the airport due to the small size, good signage, short waiting times and kind personnel.
Due to its small size there is not very much to do apart from the regular airport facilities at Tenerife North Airport like:

Car rental Tenerife

Considering the fact that you are visiting this page you are probably considering renting a car on your next trip to Tenerife. Although the largest Island of the Canary islands still isn’t that large, you are still strongly recommended to hire a car when visiting. Here are some activities you might undertake in which a rental car could come in handy:
Mount Teide is not only a volcano, but also the highest mountain peak in Spain at 3781 meters above sea level. You can drive your rental car into the park surround the mountain and park at the bottom of the volcano, the climb has to be done by foot. From the top of the mountain you can see pretty much the whole island as the peak is quite centrally located.
If you prefer a cool down over a day of hiking you can visit the Siam waterpark. This Thai themed waterpark is filled with slides, restaurants, pools and of course temples. The largest selection of Thai buildings outside of Thailand can be found at this waterpark along with a great bit of fun for the whole family. Siam Waterpark is located on the south-west of the Island so taking your rental car is recommended.
If you are not looking for anything too exhausting it is recommended to visit one of Tenerife’s endless beaches. One of the beaches is Playa de las Teresitas, located just north of Santa Cruz and very popular among locals as well as tourists.

Car rental at Holiday Cars

Driving on the right is always a great place to start and very much appreciated by the locals... You can drive from north to south in about 1-1.5hours (120-80km/hr) on the motorway, so its worth exploring the contrasts between the arid south to the lush north. Some of the places we particularly enjoyed visiting in no particular order were; 'Los Gigantes' (north west) for the dramatic cliffs and scenery around the north west tip. Our visit to 'San Cristóbal de La Laguna' in the (north east), which used to be the capital before it moved to 'Santa Cruz', was interesting with history, Spanish architecture, small museums, cafe's etc, but unfortunately we needed more time than we had available to explore here. Then there's 'Puerto de la Cruz' which had to be one, if not our favourite location, with its extremely long and interesting Prominade and some great restaurants etc to relax, shops, history and lets not forget 'Loro Parque', which was brilliant!, you really could spend the whole day here! Last but not least there's 'Mount Teide', its a long way up and down and your brakes would probably appreciate cooling off halfway down, but its worth it. Just shy of the summit there's a visitor centre/cafe and tourist info and from here you can enjoy fell walks, scrambles and rock climbing, but if you want to ride the cable car be sure to book your tickets on line before you travel to save disappointment. We've hardly scratched the surface. Enjoy..

In Tenerife: Visit Anaga and the cafe at Mirador de la Granona in El Sauzal. Both will give you something unexpected. Candelaria is also very nice place to stop by. It has pretty much to give for a traveler. Still one of the best experiences have been Easter play in Los Realejos (visited year 2018). No need to know perfect Spanish because one can follow the play if only have some knowledge of the Easter things in Holy Bible.

The airport itself is located in the North. Ideal for Puerto de La Cruz or Santa Cruz but around an hours drive from the Southern resorts of Los Cristianos & Las Americas. It is a nice drive though but a bit of hassle if you don't hire a car. You must visit Mount Teide as it is beautiful.

Thrifty was fine and we had no issues. Their service was just fine. However, some of the drivers from CICAR (Canary Islands Car Rental) drive (when returning their cars to the rental lot) like wild savages and do not even respect Stop signs, almost causing an accident. So, please be very careful as you drive out of the Car Rental location so that you drive out in one piece.

We chose not to stay at Santa Cruiz but at Buenavista del Norte, which I think was the best choice. The view is great, and the village has kept its non-touristic atmosphere.

Car hire and petrol is so cheap and its the easiest way of getting around. Try visiting Teide at night to see the stars - there is no contamination up there and the views are breathtaking. Cold at this time of year 2.5 degrees so wrap up warm...
