Various tips for users of car rental

To fully explore the grand capital city and its outlying charming villages at your own leisure, car rental in Madrid is doubtlessly one of the best means of traveling. The transport links have been significantly modernized in recent years, with major additions including M-30, the ring road closest to the center, providing access to Madrid's more symbolic streets, M-40, running along areas such as Vicálvaro, Alcobendas and Villaverde, M-45, connecting the south of the region, passing through San Fernando de Henares, Vicálvaro and Carabancel, and M-50, linking up all of Madrid's south-east area. There are various places for a day trip by car rental in Madrid, such as Consuegra, a town famous for the windmills and saffron, or visit Alcala de Henares, a classic university town and birthplace of Miguel de Cervantes, author of Don Quijote. You can also rent a car in Madrid and head to Buitrago, a meeting point of the diverse cultures. Travelling by car hire in Madrid is fun, but make sure you bring your own GPS device or rent one from the car rental company before you hit the road.

Watch where you park your rental car

When travelling by car rental in Madrid, you may find parking challenging, but by no means unattainable. You can park the rental car at Atocha station, which is conveniently close to the Reina Sofia museum with only 5 minutes walk and 10 minutes from the Prado and the Thyssem-Bornemisza museums. There are green and blue parking lots, each with different rates and time intervals. For foreign travelers, you can only park in the blue zones. If you are in the north of the city, you can park in Chamartin station and take the metro to the very center. When parking your rental car in Madrid in the underground garages in the center, pay attention to the landmarks as you exit, for it's easy to forget where you've left the car.
