Eindhoven is a modern, design city and ‘the city of light’. Each year in October you can visit the Dutch Design Week: the largest design event in Northern Europe. Dutch Design week presents work and concepts from more than 2600 designers to over 335.000 visitors.
Another great event in Eindhoven is GLOW Festival. It’s a free festival organized each year in november, which presents spectaculair light artworks through the center of Eindhoven. About 35 artists from over the world create beautiful light artworks.
Other great events to visit in Eindhoven are: Carnaval (February or March), light route ( September 18th - beginning of October), Kingsday (April 27th) and Park Hilaria (August).
Must sees in Eindhoven are the Saint Catherine's church, Philips Museum, DAF Museum, Philips Stadium, Eindhoven Museum, Evoluon, Genneper Park and the Strijp S area. Strijp S is a creative area and an architectural gem. The area actually was owned by Philips and used to be full with factory’s. Nowadays it’s full with creative spots, culture, designers, hotspots, cool shops, lofts, apartments and it all looks so beautiful. Thé place to take some cool pictures and to understand why Eindhoven is Holland’s design city.
Want to go shopping? The center is perfect for a shopping spree. It has lots of big brands and everything is close to each other. Visit the ‘Kleine Berg’ and ‘Grote Berg’ for some smaller and more unique shops and boutiques in the center.
