A taste of Mexican paradise, Cancun is a city that brings ancient culture and contemporary comforts together in an exciting and vibrant mash up. Situated on the northeast coast of the Yucatán Peninsula, it boasts of white sands and turquoise seas, rich, Mayan history, colourful natural sights, and an electric nightlife. It is arguably the tourist destination of Mexico, and with hundreds of people flocking to enjoy the long list of things to see and do here, it isn’t hard to see why. So, whether you’re looking to soak up some culture in the Underwater Museum of Art, explore the array of ancient Maya archaeological sites, or you want to seek the thrills of swimming with whale sharks and go wind-surfing on the Caribbean waves, your trip to Cancun is guaranteed to be full of sea, sun, and adventures to last a lifetime.
Cancun International Airport (CUN) is one of the busiest airports in the Caribbean, located just outside the city of Cancun at kilometre 22 of the Cancun-Chetumal highway. It is one of the most convenient and therefore most popular airports when travelling to and from Mexico. Because of this it has an increasing number of visitors, and the airport is continuously growing and adding new services to accommodate its new passengers, with plenty of facilities and amenities that rival major international airports all over the world. You can find the car rental agency counters in Terminal 3 on the ground floor.
Cancun is a lively and atmospheric city, with plenty to see and do both in and around it. To truly make the most of your time here we recommend renting a car. Not only will this enable you to set your own schedule, but it also gives you the flexibility to explore more than just the surroundings of your hotel and the inner city. Although packed full of fantastic attractions and activities within walking distance, the Hotel Zone can be expensive, crowded, and tends to have a wider variety of chain restaurants and shops. By renting a car you will be able to step outside of this area as and when you want to explore some of the more local culture, with the opportunity to discover authentic Mexican markets and cuisine instead.
By working with trusted companies, we ensure that we can offer you only the most competitive prices for your trip to Cancun. We focus on making sure that freedom, security, independence, and practicality are all taken into consideration when finding deals that suit you, so you can choose a rental car that ticks every single box and then some. But don’t worry, we understand that sometimes needs change, so to make your life easier you can update your booking for free up to 48 hours before you pick up your car.
With a huge variety of things to do in Cancun, you’re going to want to be getting behind the wheel of your rental car as soon as possible. From nature and adventure parks like Xavage and Parque Maya to natural, deep-water wells known as ‘cenotes’, and not to mention all the Maya Archaeological sites to explore, driving is the best way to get around efficiently and flexibly on your own schedule. But, make sure you pay attention to the rules of the road and do your research before stepping on the pedal to ensure the safety of yourself and others around you.
There is an abundance of things to see and do in Cancun, but it is worth noting that the city is close to many incredible places that, if possible, should be added to your list of things to do whilst visiting the area. With locations like Isla Mujeres, Playa del Carmen, and the former Mayan city of Coba all within driving distance, fitting a road trip or two into your holiday would be an easy way to explore even more of the beautiful southeast area of Mexico.
If you’re a lover of the extreme, head to Woodward located in the Hotel Hard Rock Riviera Maya. Here you can do a variety of exciting extreme sports under the Mexican sun, like skiing, skateboarding, BMX, trampolining, parkour, and much more.
Or, for a chance to connect with the beautiful Caribbean nature, take a trip to the Tortugranja (Turtle Farm) on Isla Mujeres, which is a site dedicated to the protection, research, and conservation of turtles.
