What to do in Bologna?
Bologna’s nickname is ‘the red city’ because of all of it’s red painted buildings with similarly coloured rooftops. We decided to list three of the most beautiful buildings, sights and squares for you, so you know where to drive your beautiful rental car!
- The ‘two towers’ of Bologna. The main symbols of Bologna are the Torre Asinelli (97m) and the Torre Garisenda (48m). During the middle ages there were about one hundred of these towers, now there are just 21 left.
- The Saint Luke Basilisk. The building, located on a hill with a view over town, is one of the most beautiful sights of the city. The basilisk has the same red colour as most other buildings in town. There is one hassle though, the basilisk is not downtown. Of course this won’t be a problem, because your rental car will take you there in no time!
- Little Venice. One of the best kept secrets of Bologna is a small window providing you with a view over the Reno canal. You have to go to Via Piella 18 to admire this wondrous view. Little Venice is just a small part of a much larger canal system underneath the town.
