The best tip I could give would be try and stay in the Old City. That was great. It was very much fun bagaining voor the right price. Going out on the Ben Yehuda street is a must. This is for both old and young the place to be.

1. For car hire, if you are in a rush, turn up early as service is not the most efficient. This tends to apply across the board. 2. Old City beautiful and probably the best thing to see in the country but avoid during Friday prayers (10:00-13:00 hrs). 3. Spare the dead sea some of your time, a few hours at Ein Ghedi. A bit low rent and tacky but you have to try floating in the dead sea and the body mud covering experience. A cheap afternoon at the spa if you have a reasonably cheap way of getting there. 4. Israel is relatively expensive for everything in terms of accommodation, meals out, taxi and car hire but a drop in tourist numbers means that on the streets, there are price reductions. 5. Potential for street stabbings or being caught in the cross-fire never far from ones mind...but the locals take it in their stride. 6. Unless you are on a religious pilgrimage, 3 days in Jerusalem is more than enough. Do not expect too much in terms of European levels of service and politeness. 7. Treatment of foreign visitors on arrival by Immigration Staff much improved than in the past. 8. If you wish to avoid delays at the security barrier as you drive into the airport (i.e. being questioned, baggage search and document checks) avoid a Taxi being driven by a Palestinian Cab Driver.
