Dusseldorf is a large airport with three separate areas A, B and C. All the car hire companies are located beside the main exit/entrance to buses and carparks. The car-hire building is located in a multi-storey car park outside the airport beside P7. There is a Shell garage at the airport near the entrance for departures and around the block from the car-hire building. Eat before going through security to the Departures gate area as I found there was more choice in the main airport that near the gate for area C.

Mercedes Vito - 9 seater was great with enough room for luggage. We drove about 4000 km in 16 days within EU without any glitches. All insurances and winter tyres were included in the deal.

Convenient-sized airport. Rental car companies are spread out along the arrivals level, so it can take time to locate your own rental company. Fortunately, there is a Starbucks and a pretzel stand.
