Make sure you have all you travel documents. Get to the airport on time. Do not take oversize/overweight hand luggage. Get to security in plenty of time. Arrive at the gate on time. Take your seat quickly so the aircraft can depart on time.

GO as far as you can towards The HN Hotel for a relatively quieter patch to try and sleep if your hire car fails to fulfil their promise to meet you with a car off your flight. USE the drinks machine there for tiny but cheap shots of hot beverage to see you through a sleepless night. Nb green tea tastes like warm sweet toothpaste water. DON'T be alarmed by being woken (just as you finally drop off) by the sound of heavy boot-steps and the sight of a gun waved in your face by a squad of very young soldiers - they are just doing their job. DO try the grand piano in the corner, once the professional pianist has finished the last of his soothing melodies and gone home like any civilised Frenchman. DON'T panic - tomorrow is another day, even though you'll be driving a left-hand drive car for twice as long as you'd predicted on the wrong side of the road in a severely sleep-deprived state. REMEMBER - Toulouse Blagnac is probably the best place you could spend a brightly lit hot night, apart from perhaps in the cool dark car-park outside, if not in your carefully chosen hotel bed in the Pyrenean foothills. DO come back at the end of your holiday, rested and refreshed, and enjoy the speedy baggage control, delightful staff, tempting restaurants and stunning surroundings.

There is no sign reading "Rental car return" on the round about at the airport. Keep your eyes open on the round about. The rental car return exit sign reads "P1, P2, P3, P4". Take the P2 exit, drive through the underground parking garage, and turn right after exiting the garage. You will have an approximately 300 yard (274.32 m) walk to ticketing on the second floor of the terminal.

Not we’ll sign posted on departure. You need to go back on yourself past car hire area to get to main departure roundabout. Also if it’s very busy in Terminal go straight to car pickup outside & they will process the booking for you.

Always allow at least 45 minutes to pick up a car. Check on your phone to find the nearest petrol station to the drop-off point. Take something to read in the check-in queue. Have all your documents for the day in one place. Buy a snack at the airport rather than on the plane - more choice. Think carefully before assuming that airport goods are good value. Even if travelling without plans, always have your first night's stay booked.

Walk, walk walk. Toulouse is a beautiful city but park up and walk or you will be stuck in endless jams and one way systems!
