Drive to Avignon and see the Palats. Avignon has also good shopping and food. Stop at Aix. Beautiful platane streets. Very nice old town with excellent shopping. A tour to the top of Mont Venteaux is breathtaking. End the trip in Marseille. It’s much nicer than you think!

Europcar convinced me to take an additional car insurance, telling me my credit card insurance will not cover any Europcar cars damage! I called my credit card at my return and Citi told me the opposite. I wasted $400.00. I learned my lesson.

If you bring back the car before they open, just put the key in the drop box. I had to call the international line to make sure they had one.

Look at the weather forecast before you travel. Travel as light as you dare, and don’t take more than you need. Check on Google Earth where the car rental offices are before you leave home. Use a camera to record the state of the vehicle before you take the keys. Look where the nearest fuel station is as you drive away. Take your time to learn the controls of an unfamiliar vehicle.

Take the A7/A8 to Aix, a beautiful and frienly town and continue over the Luberon montain to the villages of Lacost, Bonnieux, L´isle- sur-La Sorgue and Apt. Enjoy the dramatic landscape, the winding roads, the excellent food and the genuine people. Stay a night or two at a star hotel/restaurant just outside Apt on the road to Avignon. Visit Arles and walk in the footsteps of Vincent van Gogh. Continue to the delta of Camargue and see flamingos, horses and take a swim at the beach of St Marie de la Mer. You will be happy!
