Cannot fault the airport operationally. Small but effeciently run. Most staff even have a smile.! Busy spot at times but they manage the flow on inbound & outbound very well. I find hire-car works better collecting off-site instead of queueing in the terminal.

As far as fuerteventura is concerned you don't need a big car, in fact on some mountain roads a smaller car may well give a cautious driver more confidence. I definitely recommend getting inland and the drive to the old capital of Betancuria is well worth it although its more about the views than Betancuria itself which is tiny. Also head north to experience the huge dunes south of Corralejo & the fabulous beaches there.

Read carefully condition of rental in voucher to not be dissapointed at the desk. If you want to discover beaches on the island car recommended on whole stay. But if you have some stationary hotel 2-3 days for sightseeing is enough. Really nice place.

If possible go directly to the Goldcar desk in the arrivals area and get someone else to collect your luggage as this will avoid some queueing.

Fuerteventura airport is not the biggest but it has a good selection of duty free shops. You can buy souvenirs there for everyone. You also can eat and drink. And of course the outside bar is a great feature. There is plenty seating space for everyone. In general it is a nice and clean airport.

Pretty good facilities and comfort for a small island airport Customs officers are friendlier and more cheerful than most Nice to see free drinking water available at the airport to save having to buy over-priced bottles Airport is very conveniently located for Antigua and Celeta del Fuste (Sheraton) in the middle of the east coast South of the island is 1 hour drive and has spectacular volcanic rocky landscapes and fabulous beaches. North of the island (Corralejo) is 45 mins drive and has amazingly extensive sand dunes blown over from Africa, with views over to Lanzarote For best spectacular panoramic views over the island take a trip to the Mirador Morro Velosa up in the mountains

Pay a little extra for aircraft seats near a door to improve your chances of getting to the front of the queue at Rhodium's office. If you've got a "full to full" fuel hire agreement, fill up on return at the petrol station just south of the airport on the FV-2 by the roundabout signposted for Costa de Antigua. Alternatively, there's a last-chance-saloon petrol station by the side of the roundabout you'll encounter once you've left the FV-2 on your way to the airport car hire parking. Be wary when entering the 60kph and then 30kph areas that precede junctions because it's completely unnatural to slow down that much for them unless you or another driver's turning off, but the police set up radar traps there for easy money (I speak from experience!). When using your credit card, stipulate payment in euros not sterling. If you don't, you'll be stung by poor local conversion rates rather than your own credit card company's rates, which will be more favourable for you. Use the Met Office app (or web site?) for weather forecasts because it's unbelievably accurate.

I recommend to drive from Pajara to Betancuria, it's very beautiful road. In Betancuria you should enjoy the excellent food and service of restaurant Santa Maria. If you like to walk on cliffs Ajuy is the right place for that. I also recommend to take a long walk on the beautiful Sotovento beach, but choose a less windy day. In Morro Jable I recommend to have lunch at restaurant La Laja with great views. The biggest shopping center on the island can be found in Puerto del Rosario: La Rotonda.
