Bergamo airport is small and tidy. It is well organized and the bus station layout is very easy to navigate. Bergamo is a good spot to land if you are traveling to either Milan or Verona. It has buses to take you to Milan in under an hour. The food at Bergamo airport is not that expensive for airport food and being in Italy, you can expect far above average quality airport food. All in all, not many complaints. Just make sure to book your car ahead of time, it is a lot more money to book it the day of.

It is a small, quite busy airport. When we were there, the security check queue was really big because unfortunately, only two counters were working. You have to be fit when you travel through this airport, since the way to the gates is long and twisted. On the bright side, there is a shopping mall right across the road. You need to walk for about 10 minutes to get there. Just make sure that you don't lose track of time while shopping and miss your flight!

Always take pictures of your rental car before and after use to be safe against damages you didn't do. Traveling lightly is easier, especially in warmer climates. Just take the bare essentials with you and buy the rest at the destination(toothpaste, washing lotions, eating hardware etc.). Always have a offline GPS system with you, can't always rely on having access to mobile internet abroad. A paper map as backup is also good to have. When looking for places to eat, look further from the center of town, observe and ask where the locals go to eat. This way you will find tasty and cheap options which are not always marked on the maps. It is a good idea to book hotels in advance, as all the good deals usually get taken before you arrive.
