French cities and towns are introducing low-emission zones to combat air pollution (ZFE). In these zones, the most polluting vehicles are not allowed to drive or park. You will need to purchase a Crit’Air stickers (air quality certificate) from official sources online in order to enter if you don't have the correct vehicle. The zones are marked with signs of a red circle on a white background. Toulouse Métropole has set up a ZFE zone since 1st March 2022. This zone corresponds to the entire area inside the ring road.
People in France drive on the right side of the road with passing and overtaking on the left. Below are a few pointers you should take into consideration before jumping in front of the wheel! To rent a car in France you must be at least 21 years old or 25 years old (minimum age varies by rental agency), and have a credit card in your name. Some agencies may require you to have had your driver’s license for at least one year. Check specific rules with individual rental companies before booking.
